Newry is looking for a technically oriented business development professional to help us expand our client base across chemicals and materials industries. This individual will be primarily responsible for new account acquisition, with a focus on identifying opportunities, making connections, pitching, and winning new business, but may contribute to efforts at existing accounts as well. The successful candidate will be a “self-starter” with professional business development and sales expertise, and will demonstrate the ability to contribute individually and be an effective collaborator across the organization.

The responsibilities of the position are:

  • Generate and nurture leads from initial contact to project launch by serving as a client advocate and ensuring exceptional client experiences throughout the business development process
  • Maintain and deepen client relationships over the long term by developing connections across client organizations
  • Participate in conferences, industry events and other networking opportunities to build awareness of Newry and maintain contacts over time
  • Expand Newry’s NBD capabilities by developing creative approaches to communicating our brand and reputation, applying disciplined methods for qualifying opportunities and engaging new prospects, and demonstrating effective listening skills to clearly capture the client need
  • Maintain organized and transparent sales workflow processes using CRM and project management platforms

  • You love to connect people, to network, and to build relationships from the ground up
  • You have solid sales experience and a proven track record of disciplined sales process and consultative sales success
  • You are an avid and thoughtful listener, are persistent, and aren’t afraid to be told “no”
  • You are an enthusiastic and talented writer, presenter, and communicator
  • You are driven, skilled at time management, and comfortable working independently
  • You are open-minded and love to bounce ideas around with others to find the absolute best solution for our clients
  • You enjoy taking on responsibility to meet aggressive targets, and thrive through honest and straightforward feedback
  • You love to travel and don’t mind being away from home up to 30% of the time

  • A bachelor’s degree from a competitive undergraduate program in a field such as economics, marketing, business, physical sciences or engineering is required. Consulting experience is preferred, but not necessary. Related work in professional services would be advantageous. Candidates with other exceptional backgrounds, including international experience, project management experience and/or completed graduate work, such as an MBA, may also be considered
  • A background that demonstrates command of both advanced technology (such as highly engineered products, materials science, etc.) and business concepts, as well as the ability to understand the commercial viability of products
  • Proven track record in sales; 3-5 year’s sales experience in related professional services or technical fields
  • Unequivocal ability to understand each individual client and their unique needs
  • A demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, including identifying critical business issues and providing strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to senior executives and facilitate meetings effectively
  • A strong work ethic, insatiable curiosity, and an unselfish team spirit
  • The ability to travel globally is required

  • A competitive starting base salary + profit share and incentive bonuses, medical, dental, vision, 401k, generous vacation and other benefits
  • An opportunity to join a growing team of extremely gifted, collaborative colleagues, who will support you and expand your experience and mindset
  • A flexible, fun, laid-back, work environment where you can truly be yourself and do great work
